KYLIE MINOGUE: DISCO
SCORE: 100/100
'DISCO' feels like the long lost, modern sister to 'Fever' - it feels modern without having the overbearing poppy sound you hear everywhere else, and it's something so uniquely Kylie that it makes 'Golden' pale completely in comparison (with it being her weakest overall album, but still good enough to be worthwhile). This album returns back to Kylie's roots, sitting comfortably in a style she has become known for; and for good reason.
It's an album that showcases Kylie's style in a more modern setting in a way that is sheer excellence to a point where it almost feels like she's showing off just how incredible she truly is. 'DISCO' is the kind of album that will want you having to dance and sway from the moment it starts, and it's a stunning nu-disco project that holds its grooves and makes sure it leaves an impact.
This album is massively refreshing after the lackluster 'Golden' - and it feels like a complete return to form for the pop diva. Her ability to make music that is this fun this late into her career is a mighty impressive feat, and the production sounds here are fresh and delightfully synth-heavy; it's indulgently fun, and it's an album that is entirely captivating in every way possible.
'DISCO' is yet another nonstop Kylie dance party, and everyone's invited. The energy doesn't stop for even a second, and it's clear that Kylie still knows how to make a dance record, even decades into her career when music has changed so much - she'll always keep up and manage to soar above the curve.
Shockingly enough, 'DISCO' manages to be one of Kylie's most energetic and infectious albums, every song is just as fun as the last - and the mixing and matching of sounds and styles while keeping a huge amount of consistency means that this album breezes passed in the most fun way imaginable. The songs come together exceptionally well, and even the ones that switch up the style slightly work their way in incredibly well.
