MARILYN MANSON: THE GOLDEN AGE OF GROTESQUE
SCORE: 100/100
'The Golden Age of Grotesque' is an album I've found myself hooked on lately - the songs are instantaneously captivating, and each hard riff and hook make this album one of Manson's most entertaining.
Manson manages to work this album even harder than the previous outputs that the band had done thus far. The sheer energy and entertainment value of this album is through the roof; making it one of the band's most "fun" projects. It's loud, abrasive, violent -and sheer crazy in the way a metal album needs to be.
The energy of this album is completely unmatched - it's the kind of album that makes you want to mosh, riot, and hit someone all at the same time; with more of the band's signature style and incredible playing style coming through on this album like never before. It's a more rough & fast album compared to the band's previous works, with songs like 'mOBSCENE' and 'Use Your Fist and Not Your Mouth' setting the tone for the entirety of the album.
This album has an even higher intensity than some of the band's other works - with the signature vocals from Manson helping to lead the project into the highs it manages while the instrumentals set a gritty and rough tone that only Marilyn Manson could possibly pull off - and they pull it off well.
It has the undeniable eeriness that the band has laid onto their style particularly well while making songs to headbang to; the songs are instantaneously catchy and memorable, making it near-impossible to pick a particular highlight when every song keeps the energy going just as well as the last.
Despite a few bumps in the road, 'The Golden Age of Grotesque' is a deeply consistent album that is entertaining for its entire runtime. It's an absolutely infectious album that will leave you wanting seconds, and it's a striking continuation of the band's discography.
