THE BERZERKER: NO?
SCORE: 100/100
After making a comment about not liking Spotify pre-mixed playlists, I changed my mind upon hearing 'No?', for the first time. At first, I wasn't sure if I liked it or not - but once it kicked off, it kicked off. I immediately wanted more from the band, and I told my friend about what I was hearing almost instantaneously, it hit me like a shockwave - and going in and hearing that the EP samples one of my all-time favorite movies in numerous songs almost made me cry. It's rare that I'm as stunned by music as I was by this EP, and I've never fallen quite as hard for a band this obscure.
There's something so striking about this EP, particularly the way it mixes gabber and metal - two of my favorite genres. Hearing rock elements in electronic songs/albums is always a treat no matter when it's done, and this EP is full of songs that blend metal and hardcore electronic subgenres into one package that packs a punch so hard your ears might just ring. The Berzerker is without a doubt one of the best musical discoveries I have ever made, and I wish that there were countless albums just like this EP that I could listen to; because believe me, I would.
It's almost too much without being too much, leaving that essential high that most electronic acts could only wish of accomplishing. This is more than just gabber, and it's without a doubt one of the best mixed-genre projects I have ever listened to. It's something you have to simply hear to believe, and it won't leave your head.
