TURBONEGRO: APOCALYPSE DUDES

'Apocalypse Dudes' is a major shift in key when compared to the band's previous effort. It incorporates more elements of glam rock within the punk roots of the band, leading to an album with undeniable charm and a massive amount of energy; it's a highly welcomed change for the band, and they leave the grit behind for something even more polished and hugely enjoyable.

This album has a much more palatable and less "silly" sound when compared to their previous effort while still keeping the band's sound very much in tact. It has their signature energy being brought up to new, unadulterated heights - and they pull off this change with such an impressive amount of grace that this album feels like an absolute must.

The mixture of glam rock and punk works incredibly well on this album, with both of the combined elements of the two genres coming together into one album that can best be described with the word "fun". This album just radiates high-energy thrills and fun experiences, and it's a punk album worth thrashing to. 

'Apocalypse Dudes' is one of those albums where it's impossible not to have a good time. There's something for everyone to enjoy within the album - and any fans of rock of any sort will find something of interest on the sheer energy of this project alone. It's a radiant force with a sense of charisma that only Turbonegro could pull off, and they pull it off even better here than ever before.

If you're looking for a comprehensive look at Turbonegro, this album is the place to find it. All of the elements of their previous album are brought into something bigger and much more theatrical in a sense that it is full of genuine liveliness and sounds that you would be crazy to not have fun with. It's one big bundle of energy; one where the party never stops or leaves you hanging, and it's irresistible.

My very own "brown cookies" were a product of experimentation done for a foods course that I am currently enrolled in. SLY AND THE FAMILY STONE: FRESH

SCORE: 87/100 Sly and the Family Stone are a band with undoubtable and undeniable charm, with Sly Stone being one of the most unique frontmen to ever grace the music industry with his quirky vocal performances and pacing alongside the delightful instrumentation led by the rest of the band, 'Fresh' indeed still sounds fresh decades after its initial release. The album is delightfully funky and wonderfully fun, with the tracks coming together to make a consistent and enjoyable project that is well worth its 39 minute runtime, 'Fresh' is an absolute gem in the funk genre that is far too overlooked when compared to other similar albums. 'Fresh' works best as a all-in-one-go album, with the tracks feeling more like they work on the album than they would outside of the general context of the album. DEFTONES: GORE SCORE: 89/100 A shorter and less favored album for many, Deftones' 2016 albums hits the right spots and returns to the form found throughout their 2006 opus 'Saturday Night Wrist'.  For many, 'Gore' manages to be the weakest effort in the deeply complex and delightful discography of the band. It is a less praised album overall - which I was immediately confused by upon playing the first track. The album has the same complexity as their other projects - having a more modern sound and using different soundscapes to make the album unique from their other projects while still keeping the cohesion of their albums up to par.  It's a striking comeback that engulfs their discography with more heavy & scenic tracks, with each song having a different sound than the last and the album coming together quite well.
