WEEZER: GREEN ALBUM

SCORE: 78/100

Weezer's 'Green Album' follows the sounds that they have made themselves known for at this point into their discography - packing them into a shorter, accessible package that feels like a solid return after the 'Blue Album' was released. It doesn't quite compare to their previous albums, but it's a solid return and continuation of the band's form.

There are obvious highlights of this album ('Hash Pipe' and 'Island In the Sun') that lead to some of the other tracks seeming pale in comparison, but the album is overall quite consistent and enjoyable. It's one of those albums where there isn't really a lot to say about it, as it's a familiar sound for Weezer that was done better on their previous two albums.

It's a solid album compared to their first two - but it isn't quite as great as their previous bodies of work. It's a short album that has some well-developed ideas, but it's such a familiar sound that it feels as if the band might need to do something different soon. There are some sounds here that could be expanded upon more to make a more unique album - but for the time being, this was another good output for the band.

More could've been done for the 'Green Album', but it isn't a disappointment either. It has the sound you would expect from a Weezer album; just to a less exciting degree to some extent. There are some very enjoyable tracks throughout this album, and it's an overall consistent project with some worthwhile moments throughout.

It tries to capture the spirit of their previous album, but it doesn't quite do them justice. The band feels like they need more ideas on this album; but it isn't a bad body of work by any means. It might be a drop in quality compared to their previous two albums, but it still manages to be enjoyable. It's a sweet and sunny album - and it still feels worthwhile despite the somewhat lackluster feeling it has at the beginning.
